The Department of Art and Art History present the exhibition “Replacement Landscapes,” featuring oil paintings by Armin Mühsam. Mühsam’s paintings depict open, unpopulated landscapes and architectural structures. The work he is presenting at the Spagnuolo Gallery is a series of diptychs that convey his thoughts about how humans, particularly Western man, change or interact with the landscape. Noon Rogelio Salmona: The Confluence of History and Geography

This event will feature presentations by world-renowned historian, critic, and Professor Kenneth Frampton; and architect Maria Elvira Madriñan, wife and collaborator of Rogelio Salmona. Journalist and author Jason Berry will discuss the newly revised edition of his acclaimed book, Up From the Cradle of Jazz: New Orleans Music Since World War II, co-authored with Jonathan Foose and Tad Jones. Berry will show an original documentary on jazz funerals and offer his unique perspective on the enduring spirit of music in New Orleans in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

Whether you were a Georgetown track star or a recreational runner, you're invited to run the Eighth Annual Hilltop Challenge Homecoming 5K. Registration begins at 8 a.m. and the race begins promptly at 9 a.m. in Red Square. The course winds through Georgetown's campus and the surrounding neighborhood. Awards will be given to the top three male and female runners, and all runners will receive a Hilltop Challenge t-shirt. Join us for breakfast in Healy Circle following the race. Proceeds from the race will benefit the Georgetown Spiked Shoe Club. Register at the event.
