Traditions Day was designed in 2002 to showcase some of Georgetown students' most beloved campus events and activities. Traditions Day has been included as part of Homecoming Weekend in hopes that both current students and young alumni will share in the activities in the days leading up to Homecoming 2007.

Highlights of this year's NCAA tournament and the famous Duke defeat will be showing while students feast on their dining hall favorite - chicken fingers.

Dinner turns festive with blue and gray beads, music, and dining hall favorites. Join the party, participate in Georgetown's trivia competition for a variety of prizes, and watch performances by Groove Theory and the Georgetown University Step Team.

The members' appreciation reception is one of the club's signature annual events and draws alumni from across the D.C. metro area, many of whom participated in sports during their time on the Hilltop and who support athletic programs at Georgetown. Join D.C. Club members to reconnect with each other and hear team updates from a variety of coaches.

My Father's Secret War

Library Associates presents Pulitzer Prize-winning Journalist Lucinda Franks. Franks will discuss “My Father's Secret War,” about her discovery that her failed father was actually a daring spy during World War II. A former staff writer for The New York Times, Franks has also written for “The New Yorker,” “The New York Times Magazine,” “The Atlantic,” and other publications. She was the first woman to win the Pulitzer Prize for national reporting. She is the author of “Waiting Out a War,” about the life of a Vietnam army deserter, and “Wild Apples,” a novel about two sisters who return home to come to terms with their mother's death.

8:00 am - Hilltop Challenge Homecoming 5K
Red Square
Whether you were a Georgetown track star or a recreational runner, you're invited to run the Fifth Annual Hilltop Challenge Homecoming 5K. Registration begins at 8 a.m. and the race begins promptly at 9 a.m. in Red Square. The course winds through Georgetown's campus and the surrounding neighborhood. Awards will be given to the top three male and female runners, and all runners will receive a Hilltop Challenge t-shirt. Join us for breakfast following the race at the Alumni House, located at the corner of 36th and O Streets. Proceeds from the race will benefit the Georgetown Spiked Shoe Club.
